Beyond my corporate work, I’m a book author and freelance writer. My memoir, Standing By, was published by Penguin Random House. It was one of the first memoirs of the Iraq war period by a military spouse, and has been called “outstanding nonfiction” by the Washington Post. The book is regularly referenced as a resource that helps bridge the civilian-military divide and included in roundups of the most influential books by military spouses.
As an independent journalist, my articles, essays, book reviews, and op-eds—spanning topics in business, health, travel, and military issues—have been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the L.A. Times, The Independent (UK), Forbes, Slate.com, Time.com, and other major media outlets. In addition, my essays have been published in the Harvard Business Review Guide to Remote Work and the New York Times’ At War e-book.
